suminagachi

Created in collaboration with Judith Bourdin, founder of the fashion accessory brand Denovembre, this tea set is produced by a ceramics master in Kyoto.

Since we were working with an artisan with specialized expertise in working with mixed-clay, we were eager to demonstrate the uniqueness of each piece. To achieve this goal we chose to reduce the amount of colour in the clay, in order to create more dispersed and diluted swirls of colour.

The tea pot, cup and sugar bowl are made with white clay mixed with just a touch of black, blue or light blue clay. The colour flows freely around each piece, through the freedom of its movements making each piece unique.

Reminiscent of diaphanous clouds or tranquil marine currents, the colour patterns bring a calm and serenity to these pieces and to their users.
